Dallas, TX - The U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency recently awarded two grants to the Brownsville Public
Utilities Board to plan and construct the Weir and Reservoir Project. The
proposed project will be located on the Rio Grande and will have a normal
maximum storage capacity of 6,000 acre-feet. Upon completion, the project
is intended to provide an increased dependable water supply for
approximately 150,000 municipal and industrial users located primarily
within BPUB's service area and in southwestern Cameron County.
