Friday March 3, 2006 Congresswoman
gets hearing on bill to preserve Colorado's Rio |

Washington, DC -- As a member of the
House Resources Committee, Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave (CO-04) succeeded
in scheduling an upcoming hearing on a bill to establish a natural area
consisting of pristine land around the Rio Grande River within Colorado.
This area would encompass a quarter mile on each side of the river and
extend from the southern boundary of the Alamosa National Wildlife refuge
to the New Mexico State border.
This bill was originally introduced in the U.S. Senate by Colorado's Wayne Allard and passed on July 26, 2005. It is S. 56, the Rio Grande Natural Area Act.
