AZ: SRP Launches Public Website where
Residents of Verde and Salt Watersheds Can Check River Flows, Rainfall

At www.WatershedMonitor.com, data collected by the United States Geological Survey and SRP is now available to the public in a web-based format that allows watershed stakeholders to check the pulse of the Salt and Verde watersheds.
Greg Kornrumph, SRP's liaison to communities and interest groups on the Salt and Verde watersheds, said the new website "continues SRP's commitment to assisting in the education of the watershed community regarding water-resource issues."
For the past seven years Tempe-based SRP has actively participated in Verde River Day, along with local and state politicians, residents, environmental advocates and the development community to celebrate the values of a free-flowing Verde River. SRP rolled out the new website at last month's annual event.
Kornrumph said the www.WatershedMonitor.com website will evolve over time as SRP continues to provide watershed information. He suggested visiting the website regularly as SRP continues to update information.
One of the purposes for the website, Kornrumph said, is to provide flow data at low-flow gages installed by SRP in cooperation with other stakeholders. The Prescott National Forest, Arizona Game & Fish Commission and the Verde Watershed Association all provided assistance with the construction and installation of low-flow gage sites along the Verde River and its tributaries. These sites were selected based on input from citizen and agency stakeholders along with certain technical considerations such as stability of the stream channel, access and security.
When utilizing the website, visitors will be asked to view information for either the Verde or Salt watershed. A menu will provide a choice of smaller areas on each watershed, such as the Middle Verde, and then more detailed information will be displayed from each gage location. Depending on which gage site is selected, a graph will display the latest seven days of flow or precipitation. Data from the last month, last three months and from the same week the previous year is also available for display. Data can also be downloaded if desired.
SRP is the largest provider of water and power to the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.
