CA: Reclamation Announces No Change for the Central Valley Project Supply Allocation

Source: U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Mid-Pacific Region

The Bureau of Reclamation announces no change for the April 2008 water supply allocation to the Central Valley Project (CVP) farmers north and south of the Delta; the allocation remains at 45-percent. All other CVP allocations, for M&I, water rights, refuges, the Friant and Eastside Divisions will also remain unchanged.

March and April have been the driest months in decades, and close coordination among Reclamation, CVP contractors, and Department of Water Resources (DWR) on operations at San Luis reservoir will be required to maintain the current allocation.

Reclamation developed this forecast based on the April 1, 2008, Water Year Runoff Forecast prepared by DWR and it includes anticipated project operations. Reclamation's CVP water supply allocation is based on the 90-percent forecast associated with dry hydrological conditions that have a 90-percent chance of exceeding the projection.

Reclamation will continue to monitor hydrologic conditions and will update the CVP-wide allocation as conditions warrant.
