| Sacramento, CA – Senate President pro
Tem Don Perata (D-Oakland) released the following statement
about the state’s water supply after the latest snow survey
shows the water content at 67 percent of normal: “The DWR
snow survey report illustrates more than ever the need for
immediate action to help use the water we have more wisely
and to protect those drinking water sources that serve
millions of people.”
“It’s unfortunate that the Governor vetoed my SB 1002
last year that would have spent $611 million in bond funds
already approved by the voters for immediate actions to
protect the Delta, clean up groundwater supplies for Los
Angeles and promote water conservation.”
“In January, the Senate passed SB 1xx, a similar bill, to
provide these funds. We can, and should, use the money
Californian’s have already approved at the ballot to help
meet our urgent water needs.”
“I look forward to the swift passage of SB 1xx so that we
can get on with the job of addressing the state’s water
challenges.” |
