Through a conservation grant program that was introduced last year, the Authority’s board approved matching fund grants to: Bexar County Water Control and Improvement District #10 in the amount of $6,000 for ultra low-flow toilet and high-efficiency washing machine rebate programs; the City of Devine in the amount of $13,500 for a water conservation kit distribution program; the City of Live Oak in the amount of $32,500 for a leak detection survey and implementation of a toilet replacement program; the City of Shavano Park in the amount of $5,000 for a leak detection survey; Universal City in the amount of $62,187.50 for the purchase and installation of an advanced leak detection system; East Medina County Special Utility District in the amount of $ 37,500 for a system-wide leak detection survey; and Rio Medina Water Corporation in the amount of $3,772.50 for implementation of a meter replacement program.
Through the Authority’s grant program, municipal and industrial Edwards permit holders may apply for matching grant funding to cover up to half the projected cost of qualified conservation programs and practices that result in saved groundwater. The grants are offered annually as an incentive for implementing water conservation practices across the Authority’s jurisdictional area.
